This is a high-profile role at the intersection of policy, thought leadership and member engagement, offering the chance to shape the organisation's voice and influence on some of the most significant issues facing financial services today. You will manage a small team of two direct reports.
Key responsibilities
As Head of Financial Services, you will be the organisation's subject matter expert and primary point of contact for the financial services sector. Your responsibilities will span stakeholder engagement, policy development, thought leadership and cross-organisational collaboration.
Day-to-day, you can expect to:
· Build and sustain high-level relationships across the financial services sector, including with senior figures at major institutions, regulators and central bank contacts.
· Design and oversee a programme of policy and technical work on key issues affecting banking, insurance and investment management, commissioning and managing contributions from specialist third parties where appropriate.
· Lead the production of authoritative responses to government consultations, select committee inquiries and regulatory calls for evidence relating to financial services.
· Develop practical guidance and best practice content that helps members navigate complex regulatory and technical developments.
· Work in close partnership with colleagues across membership, policy, communications and international functions to ensure a joined-up and coherent content strategy.
· Enhance the organisation's profile, credibility and influence within the financial services industry through innovative and thought-provoking output.
· Adapt your focus and priorities in response to emerging business needs and evolving sector developments.

We are looking for a subject matter expert with a genuine passion for financial services policy and a strong track record in a relevant environment. You will likely bring:
· A strong academic background, with a degree or relevant professional qualification. Post-qualification experience in a related discipline is an advantage.
· Recent and substantive experience working within or alongside the financial services industry, whether from a major institution, professional services firm or regulatory body.
· A sophisticated understanding of the issues shaping financial services today, including ESG considerations, IFRS 9 and IFRS 17 accounting standards, the evolution of cryptoassets, and the future direction of financial regulation.
· Proven project management capability, with experience devising, commissioning and delivering high-quality thought leadership, policy work and consultation responses.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, accessible content for a variety of audiences.
· Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence and credibility to engage senior leaders across the sector and foster productive working relationships.
· A collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work across functions to support both team objectives and the wider organisational strategy.
