Director, Regional Engagement & Business Development

London / Hybrid working
Full-time, permanent
Salary: c. £100,000 - £115,000 + benefits

The role

Our client is a highly respected professional membership organisation with a significant national presence across the UK. They are seeking an experienced and driven Director to lead their regional engagement and business development function. This is a pivotal role at the heart of their membership growth strategy.

Reporting directly to the senior executive team, this is a senior leadership position offering genuine influence, a collaborative culture, and the chance to shape how the organisation supports its members and training partners across every region of the UK.

Key responsibilities

This is a broad, high-impact role with responsibility across two interconnected areas: growing market share through new business development, and deepening member engagement at a local level.

Your key accountabilities will include:

•           Leading the Key Client Accounts and business development teams to hit budgeted growth targets and expand market share nationally.

•           Overseeing a portfolio of major training and employer relationships, building a structured account management function and coordinating activity across the wider organisation.

•           Driving regional member engagement by working in close partnership with local networks, ensuring national strategy is brought to life at a community level.

•           Positioning members in each region as active contributors to the organisation's public policy work, developing robust insight-gathering channels.

•           Collaborating with Directors across International, Business, and Practice functions to ensure a joined-up and accessible membership offering, regardless of geography.

•           Working alongside colleagues to support student engagement through regional activity.

•           Aligning regional programming with the organisation's structured continuing professional development offering.

•           Partnering with Technology and Service Centre teams to deliver an outstanding client experience for key accounts.

About you

You will bring substantial senior experience in B2B business development, along with a genuine passion for member or client engagement. Specifically, we are looking for:

•           A strong track record in B2B business development leadership, with demonstrable success in growing market share and delivering excellent client outcomes.

•           Experience managing and developing key client accounts and strategic partnerships across multiple regions.

•           A natural relationship-builder with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at every level, both inside and outside an organisation.

•           Proven capability in driving engagement with professional communities, ideally through cross-functional collaboration.

•           Experience across the full commercial cycle: networking, lead generation, negotiation, sales conversion, and contract management — ideally within professional services.

•           Familiarity with gathering member or stakeholder insights to inform organisational strategy or public policy (highly desirable).

•           A current driving licence and access to a vehicle, given the national remit of this role.
